Went shopping Thursday and finally found a fridge that I liked and that would fit. We scheduled the delivery for this morning. I got everything out of the old one and had a mop ready for the disaster area I'm sure to see once pulled out.
The guy pulled old one out a few inches, looked behind it and said nope.
I have to get a plumber to put in a new shut off valve. They quit using the style we have 20 years ago. The fridge was installed in 1993. It lasted so long I was thrilled to find another GE that had all I was looking for except one thing. It's a side by side. The French door , bottom freezer models were all too wide and I didn't feel the need for a kitchen remodel. In spite of that I really like the way everything is truly adjustable. Not just a couple shelves that can move a couple inches. The shelves and the door bins can all be arranged however needed.
I was able to make an appointment for a plumber to come out tomorrow afternoon. I really really hope he can get it all set up. When we replaced our water heater they had to make three trips before installing. Had to call an electrician to re-wire the connection and the first time he put it in the wrong location.
DG I totally feel for you and all the work involved with your home. Sooo many code changes over the years. There's no "plug and play" for older homes. This one was built 1970 or so. It's been through a lot of settling and being jacked back up. Some of the walls have noticeable cracks, gaps under the doors, doors that won't close depending on the weather. The joys of living on a hill made of clay, lol. It makes it hard to cool and heat too.
The next project will be replacing the sliding patio door, as soon as I figure out who to call for such a thing. I'm trying to keep the place safely livable without spending a fortune.

Ah, the good old days of well made appliances!! We had a washer that made it 25 years before replacing it last year. Your new frig sounds awesome with all the flexibility it gives! Amazing the technology they are bringing to appliances although I wonder about how expensive it will be once something does go wrong but we have a home warranty and that helps a lot! I hope all goes smoothly for you from here on out and it doesn't take long to get your frig up and running!
It would be awesome to be FB friends! Although I don't have a FB page of my own so to speak. My DV game is attached to a FB profile that my daughter made so she and I could be friends in DV, but I can't log in to it because she and I forgot the login info! I tried all the stuff they recommend but haven't been successful. And now for some reason my Flutter started over as in a new game (yikes!) so I haven't been able to do anything there for a week now. I'm working with Flutter to see if my old game is retrievable.

Forgive me, but the geek in me lol'd at forgetting Facebook info.
How frustrating for Flutter to go wonky right at their event. I hope they fix it in time or at least give you the event butterflies you miss.
I've been so hooked on this new dragon game that I barely play anything else. I've played through all the levels and am going back through a 2nd time. The more times you play each level the better the prize for winning.

Plumber came out to look things over. Replacing all shut off valves under the kitchen sink, all the pipes, new faucet ( with a sprayer, woohoo!) and new connection for new fridge. It turns out the valves we have are not only no longer used, they're illegal to install. We've been "unsafe" for over 20 years and didn't even know it. :D

FP - glad your hubby got motivated to take more lessons...new song for me, "Guitar Man" by Bread...

DRMN - That 'out-of-code' stuff isn't just happening in TX...it's happening all over the nation...just another way, invented by government, to take your money.

My goodness it's quiet on the forum! Hope all are well and just busy with life and dragons!

DRM you'd be laughing all the time as I tend to forget my passwords often! It stinks about things not being code, guess you could always fix it to code and then sell it before they change their mind

GPK I looove Bread and pretty much all of their songs. Brings me right back to my childhood and being so proud to own my own albums! I've been signing Guitar Man and IF all day. Fitting song for you 'guitar man'!

WHEW! Over and over, and done and done!!! I've been working this library project since 20 May, our summer reading program was all of July, and then my sister from AR showed up for two weeks. She left this morning, but I've been running around all day doing errands I didn't do when she was here. SO DONE! (Now all the stuff at home I've been neglecting for a couple of months needs to get done!)

DRM - sorry to hear about your plumbing woes! I hope by the time you get this all will be settled and fixed and usable! Have you quit playing DVW? I noticed the note under your name in friends - was there a specific reason or just not moving fast enough? So many issues with that game and I'd quit but by gosh I've got a lot of dragons in my primary game and over 2000 gems in each of the games! I did manage to get most of the recent dragons in my primary game but not in my secondary. I just don't think that one will be as successful as DV (in my HGGO) for me personally - DV is still my fave game above all I play.

FP!!!!!!!!! Oh my dear, I still owe you an e-mail from what.....March or something? Shame On Shelley! I'm horrible at writing e-mails, same with letters, and that is sad. I mean, what did I do before computers???? I wrote letters! I remember sending my mom a letter a WEEK from Japan (in 1981) and would write as often as I could from wherever I was. Then of course the telephone got more reasonable then with computers/e-mail, cel phones and unlimited talk and text, letters are almost obsolete. Pity. (But still Shame On Shelley!)

GPK - you old Navy puke you - how you been? I see practicing new guitar music - good for you! I'm with FP - I thought Bread was a great band and enjoyed their music. Keeping busy out in CO? Has your wx started changing yet? We finally cooled down this past week, highs only in the 70's and it has been spectacular. I've been harvesting my carrots, beans, onions, and tomatoes (cherry toms right now, the big ones aren't ripe yet), and soon my potatoes will be ready to dig. I planted Norland Reds and Russetts this year, we'll see how they turn out.

The guineas are doing fine - did I tell you I lost 6 in one swoop about a month ago? So I'm down to half of what I started out with last year. Nineteen is all I have remaining and because I've only seen about SIX grasshoppers and NO TICKS on the dogs this year, I will be getting more keats next year. I think 30 or so is the way to go out here, but perhaps a longer roost? Hmmmm! We'll have to see. AND I have a semi-solid plan for goats for next year, too. I still need to work out the particulars and really get out there and take a look around, but I may be able to manage it without building a new barn. I'll keep you posted.

My sister (older than me by about 6 years) and I did quite a bit of sewing and cooking while she was here. She always teaches me new things when she comes up and this year we made...wait for it....a POODLE-SKIRT! Well, it doesn't have a poodle on it, but it is a huge 'twirly' 50's style skirt. I love it! I've always wanted one and we finally made one. Very cheery and I'm looking forward to making at least one more.

Well, I think that's all the news that's fit to print for now - I'm tired and ready to go through the games and call it a night. OBTW - do you think we'll get a new habitat in the last set of prizes? I hope so - I've hardly done anything to the new gargantuan island in hopes I can put new habs on it. So I'm saving all my magic (sorry DRM, I forgot what acronym you used for it - RDM??? Rift Dragon Magic?) and haven't purchased any dragons from the Omni set. I'll keep my fingers crossed! Well, that's it, really - I hope you guys have a great weekend and I hope to be on here a little bit more now that the summer has settled down somewhat. Take care dragon lovers, and happy dragon dreams.

No worries about the email! So glad things have settled down for you a bit. :-) It sounds like you had another successful summer reading program which I hope the parents were grateful for! I know I loved our local library's summer program and did it every year with my kids and the kids I cared for. I truly don't know what I would have done had we not had our library, so thank you on behalf of parents everywhere for your work all year and especially in the summer!

Sad about your guineas. You did mention you had lost six, and I was beginning to wonder if it would stop there. Did you ever figure out what got them? Awessome, no ticks on your pups; they certainly seem worth the extra work for that alone!

How fun that you got to make a a poodle skirt with your sisters help! So did you sew a dragon on your new 'poodle' skirt?! I finally, finally, finally started my Craftsy classes on my Silhouette Cameo that I've had for forever. It's a bit like learning Photoshop or Lightroom in that there's a lot more to it than I thought there would be like learning different file types and which can and can't be imported and how to cut things that have no cut lines etc. It's time consuming to learn and I need a nice quiet space to concentrate but I'm so excited to finally start on the road to using it!

I can't believe you haven't bought any of the new Omni dragons with your magic yet! I don't blame you for saving them though just in case. You're probably very wise to leave you new big island empty in case they throw a bunch of new habitats/dragons our way. Can't wait to see what you do with it as I've always enjoyed your and Boo's designs!

Oh, my husband and I were out driving in Amish country when we came across a sign that said 'Shelli's Shack' and it reminded me of you with your she-shack! I took a pic and will have to send it to you.

Have a great day!

Plumber replaced the water lines under the kitchen sink, plus the drain pipes, shut off valves and the faucet. Had to call him back out the next day because he got the hot and cold lines backwards on the faucet. Oops.
They brought the fridge out Thursday and, while not totally happy with the plumbing set up, hooked it up anyway. They wanted an actual cut off valve for the fridge to be located behind the fridge instead of just connecting the lines together. Showed them which valve under the sink turned off the water to the fridge and that was "ok".
We definitely have cold drinks now, woohoo! There's a display on the door that shows the temps of both sides, when it's time to change the water filter, and an alarm if the door is left open too long. The inside lights are LED and bright. We are very happy with our "plain Jane" fridge. :D

Greetings, all! It has been a productive day here at the homestead! I won't bore you with the details but I feel good about the day.

DRM - congrats on your new fridge! Sounds like a dream...sorry you had all the problems with the hook up but at least it's up and running. Are the LED lights blue? (I see those and think they look so cool!). I'm longing for a new fridge BUT the floor is first! FINALLY the guy that is going to install it is coming out in a couple of weeks. It's been busy for both of us but really...2 years? My new tile has been on the front porch for that long - but before you say DON'T USE THAT GUY it is my choice to use him because of what I know he's capable of. He did all of our remodel at the old house and I won't use anyone but him. I've had my fill of bad experiences out here in the sticks and know better than to use a 'local' person to do what needs to be done...it is more than just installing the flooring - there is subfloor that needs to be fixed, moulding that needs moving, etc. If it were just putting in a tile floor I would do it. Unfortunately, it's not. But I'm excited for you and your new fridge!

GPK - happy belated BD! Dare I ask how old? Stunning at any age i would imagine! Glad your dental procedure went well - I don't really know of anyone who says "Yay! I get to go to the dentist today - what fun, I'm so excited!!!" I am only excited to go to the dentist when I have a problem that needs to be fixed for my own comfort! :)

FP - I take it things have finally slowed down with you from this summer as well? How are things with you and yours?

I think I'm going to hold off for THREE MORE DAYS to see what the final prizes are - then I'm going to buy up all the dragons from Omni. It's practically killing me not to have them but I really want to be prepared incase there is something (like a new Rift Habitat) that I just can't live without. I've got over 30K in magic not counting what is in my gifts. I was just collecting out of my gifts and 'donating' the habitat and gifts magic to the house. Today I gathered all habitats and the gifts/prizes I could find up to 800 magic then cleared out some gifted magic as well. I guess it doesn't really make any difference does it - once you hit 1000 RMP (Rift Magic Points?) you've hit it no matter from where you collected it!

Not much else going on here. I've been collecting super sweet tomatoes by the dozens the last couple of days and to be honest I'm a bit 'green-beaned' out. Although I have discovered a pressure cooker green bean recipe I'm pretty fond of. I'll be in the garden on Wednesday (working tomorrow) picking more tomatoes and beans but the BEST thing I'll be collecting is the OKRA! Only about 5 pods are ready right now (they're already in my fridge) and I can't wait to fry up that first batch. I've got about 10 okra plants out there and am really looking forward to that!

Well off to the games with me - then off to bed. You all take care and I'll chat at you later!

Added some new dragons: Lightning Rift, Water Rift, and Muse. I'd been trying for Muse for so long that I was used to hitting retry and ignoring the times. It was a nice surprise to see one in the nest. Have my fingers crossed I can get the Celestial habitat before it leaves.

GPK don't worry, your secrets are safe with me. ;-) ;-)

DG how exciting it would be to get new flooring. Getting the carpet cleaned here is on my mental list of "to do" items. It's last on the list tho after the other big jobs so it doesn't get messed up. It's so bad tho I'm not sure cleaning it will do much good. But definitely not spending the money to replace it. Next is removing a non working refrigerator and replacing the patio door. The door is going to be a pain. I'm guessing they will want to replace all the parts, not just the doors. I'm preparing myself for that but maybe they will surprise me, lol. Yeah, right, pfft! Hehe...

I haven't quit DVW, not yet. I just have too much going on and decided to put that game on hold. I barely play Flutter or Splash and am lucky to remember to send gifts. I'm only playing my main DV parks and using the lesser ones to send gifts. Now that mom has a caregiver for a few hours during the week I'm trying to get some things done that I've been putting off. I put the note on DVW because I'd feel awful if friends were sending gifts and I wasn't sending any out.

I'm so glad getting some help for your mom (and by extension yourself) is working out well. I don't have any experience with that but I'm sure it is helping you tremendously. Sounds like you're doing a complete makeover in your house! How exciting (and how stressful)! It is all good when it's done though - like living in a new house! We finally got some much needed rain here this morning. Fall is almost here (you can smell it in the air!) and with that will come a change in the seasonal habitat! Yes, I think that way - not harvest or prepping garden beds, but DRAGONS! How funny is that!

We still have 14 days to earn magic, then 3 days to shop. The final egg prize has the appearance of an epic dragon but nothing stating what it actually will be. It could be an epic dragon or something brand new like they do for the winter event. All the prize tiers have started with a doubles weekend so I expect this last one will too.

Hi everyone. Just catching up. Sounds like everyone is very busy with summer and fixer ups. I don't have anything exciting going on here which is sometimes a good thing. Mostly just work all week and a few visits to see grandkids. School is starting all around us this week but different days it seems so all the moms are happy and kids excited. Sad to see summer ending but it's so hot here that I'm looking forward to some cooler days.
If anyone has the dawn dragon can you put it in the coop for me. I finally got dusk but still missing dawn and she's a bear to find. I'm hoping to get all the new dragons but there are so many this time it might not work for me. I'm a bit cheap on spending real money. 5 here or there but I'm going to need a lot more to get all these dragons. I used some of my magic for muse as she's been another one holding out. I wish we could breed some of the others in the coop. Maybe later. Have a nice weekend all!

G'day, g'day! Well isn't this a sticky wicket? Get more rift habitats or dragons? I only need the last two dragons in the Omni set, but I know we're going to get a dragon on the last day (as yet TBD what dragon it will be!) I'm tempted to have four rift habitats but there aren't enough dragons to fill them...yet what will BFS come out with next, I wonder - more types of rift dragons???

I've been working on my gargantuan island (unfortunately into the wee hours this a.m.) and there's still so much space! (This is a good thing!).

Today I harvest another 50 or so cherry tomatoes and OKRA! So for brunch, I had a pulled pork sandwich (made Pioneer Woman pulled pork Thursday night - YUMMY!!!), fried okra, and cherry tomatoes. You'd pay over $10 to get that in a restaurant, so I'm glad it worked out here for less than half that! I'll end up freezing a lot of the pork, but it should be OK.

So, only about 6 more days in this event...what is everyone getting???

The fox showed up again yesterday - I did manage to get off two rounds but I don't think I got him - all guineas accounted for. Although I will be getting more keets next year, I already know that. I'm down to just under half my original 34 and I can really tell a difference out here - so more guineas it will be!

Off to do the Saturday stuff - you all take care and enjoy the last few days of the event.

NOTE: GPK - we ALWAYS knew DRM was working 'on the side' for The Company - I mean really, how much intel can one have and NOT be working for them? :)

DG , that sounds delicious and all fresh too. Making me hungry for fried okra or a pork sandwich. We had quite a few tomatoes this year but about burned out now. We are getting some nice looking egg plants though.

OMD! I love eggplant! How do you like it? I like it making Eggplant Casserole, or Greek Melitzanes Tiganites/Koiokithakia Tiganita. I didn't grow eggplant this year because of everything else going on but I sure will next year. How yummy for you!

Back to work for me tomorrow, but I've enjoyed the day. Productive but easy, does that make sense?

Do you watch your local PBS station? I've been hooked on "Granchester" and just finished watching the season finale. Time to clean up the kitchen, though...more's the pity...so off with me for now, Enjoy that eggplant and share recipes!

Good morning, all! DRM - yes, we had about 7" in two days, much needed, and we have the possibility for more over the next few days. We really had a hot, dry July so our wells (and farms) are happy for the deluge. Everything is green again!

GPK - love eggplant parmesan! It's been awhile since I've made it - KL - see what you started!!!! So much Good Food. My potatoes will be ready to harvest in just a couple of weeks; I grew Russets and Norland Reds this year. Hubby really likes potatoes so hopefully they won't go to waste.

Hubby starts his vacation (he said being off this weekend was 'just' a weekend) and may take off for a few days on his bike. He needs the break but there is SO much outside that he does with the tractor that needs to be done. I won't begrudge him a few days off, though - he did get quite a bit of mowing done yesterday, but it did rain here again last night (not much I think) so I don't know if he'll mow today or not while I'm at work.

DRM - I've noticed you've not been playing Splash or Flutter for awhile; I expect you've been busy, busy, busy with the house stuff. Hope to see you on there again soon.

FP - where you hiding, woman? You mentioned Boo the other day and I do miss her on here. Right along with IPK - has anyone heard from her?
